Ekhaya Youth Project Description
“Challenging Children, Changing Course and Connecting Community”
Ekhaya means house or home in Zulu. Ekhaya is also in a sense the meeting place of ideas, visions and experiences. Ekhaya, being the "meeting place of ideas, visions and experiences", looks at the first view like the synonym for the term "developer community". But this word goes a step further. Ekhaya includes creative minds, visionary and enthusiastic users, and anybody who participates will experience its true meaning. Developing means not only to program something; developing also has a creation component. Ekhaya is the place to exchange ideas and share creation. Ekhaya is also a feeling that evolves when people impart knowledge and opinions. The Togetherness, the place of meeting is the resultant visions and experiences as a whole is called Ekhaya. You are a piece of it. The individual is not Ekhaya. Ekhaya Youth Project was created to bring back kinship within the Greater New Orleans community and beyond.
